CARE Survivor Circles - SPRING '22
CARE will be hosting survivor circles on Zoom this fall quarter. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the following form and we will send you a private Zoom link for each session.

These community circles are for UCSC students who have experienced sexual violence, relationship violence, and stalking. We offer a supportive space for healing, developing coping skills, and building community among survivors.

Please note that we have changed the time for our survivor circles. They will take place Wednesdays 2-3:30PM via zoom!

Groups are private and our CARE staff will be exempted from mandated reporting responsibilities.

For your privacy and the privacy of other participating, you will need to find a private space without major distractions.
I will not record (video or audio) during the session. *

In order to participate in our sessions, every participant needs to agree to these guidelines. You are welcome to redirect others to this form to gain access to the Zoom link and presentation materials.
I understand that I can reach out for emotional support by sending a private chat message to an advocate during the session. *
If you are feeling triggered during the session, you are able to reach out to an advocate through a private chat message on Zoom. The advocate will then meet you in a "break out room," so you can talk privately.
If I need to leave the group early, I will let CARE staff know, through a private message, either through the zoom chat feature, or verbally during conversation.

Community Guidelines
Please read and consent to the following community guidelines.
What is said in the group stays in the group. Even if I see survivors I recognize in other spaces, I will respect their right to keep their participation confidential. *
Silence is acceptable. No one needs to say anything they do not wish to say.   *
Keep an open mind, and respect each other’s ideas. *
The group is supportive rather than judgmental - respect individual choices and experiences. *
One mic, One Voice. Only one person talks at a time.   *
We share feelings and experiences just as they are. There are no right or wrong statements. *
Use “I” statements.    Everyone is entitled to their beliefs and opinions, as long as they are sharing from their own personal experience. Avoid speaking on behalf of others. *
Respect cultural differences and diversity of views. We are all equal with different perspectives and lenses. *
Take care of yourself. Notice if you are feeling activated, stressed, or triggered and step out if you need to. *
We stay open to new people at every meeting. *
While this is not a processing group for sharing the details of your experience, this is intended to be a safer place to share feelings, and to obtain and provide support, information, reassurance and encouragement. I understand that if I need a processing space, I can reach out to CARE or CAPS for this support. *
