Michigan Local Food Online Sales Grant Application
The COVID-19 pandemic increased the need for farmers and farmers markets to find alternatives for getting local food to consumers. Consequently, as consumers seek these safe food purchasing alternatives, online sales platforms have grown in popularity. Most shoppers are familiar with online shopping and appreciate it's ease and convenience. These online sales tools can set local food businesses up for success now, during the current pandemic, and in the future as shoppers continue to purchase food online.

To support local food businesses in moving online, Taste the Local Difference, with funding from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, invites farms, farmers markets and other organizations providing fresh, local food to Washtenaw and Wayne Counties to apply for the Michigan Local Food Online Sales Grant.

Funding up to $4,187 per site is available for THREE businesses, non-profits, cooperatives, food hubs, farmers markets, or other Michigan local food focused entity to support a year of Local Food Marketplace (home.localfoodmarketplace.com), an online sales platform, and technical assistance setting up the online store.

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible applicants include farm cooperatives/growers groups, farmers markets, food hubs, or 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations providing direct to consumer access to Michigan grown/produced food. Eligible applicants are those located in, and serving, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties.

TIMELINE:

Grant applications are due Friday July 24, 2020 and notification of funding will be on or before Friday, July 31, 2020. Grant funds must be spent by September 30, 2020.
