GMAA Member School Principals are invited to nominate staff whom they feel deserve recognition from the GMAA.
There are two possible GMAA Award of Merit categories:
1. Outstanding Service: GMAA is an organization run by volunteers. Thousands of students, teams and coaches are able to participate in GMAA Sport because volunteers donate their time to organize and provide a structure in which activities happen.
To nominate an Award of Merit Recipient for Outstanding Service: Please name your nominee, state his/her contribution to the GMAA over a period of at least 5 years, especially through service on Board of Directors, Advisory Committees, Sports Committees, special events/meets or any other GMAA organizing committees.
2. Outstanding Coach: No GMAA sport could operate without the dedication of our many coaches.
To nominate an Award of Merit Recipient for Outstanding Coach the coach must meet the following criteria:
(1) The coach must have coached in the GMAA for at least 10 years, when coaching 2 sports and 15 years for 1 sport.
(2) The coach is considered a model coach whose positive leadership, commitment to fair play, and whose comportment is worthy of emulation by his/her students.
(3) The coach is respected by fellow coaches for expertise in that sport as well as for outstanding ethics, and therefore is a coach who stands out as one other coaches strive to be like.
(4) The coach's technical sports skills, teaching skills and values have motivated teams members to work together and produce results.
Previous recipients of the GMAA Award of Merit are not eligible. Previous recipients of the GMIAA Award of Merit are eligible for the GMAA Award of Merit provided the outstanding, meritorious contribution has been made to the GMAA.
