What time zone do you live in? *
Tell me about the project that you hope to complete during the Year of Writing Magically. It's okay if you're not sure yet; the Discovery portion of the class will help you with that. Just share your goals for the workshop. *
Share your expectations and hopes for this workshop. When you emerge from this class at the end of the year, what do you want to have learned and/or accomplished? *
Have you ever finished a long-form fiction project before? Don't worry; the workshop welcomes every writer at any stage of their process. If you have finished a long-form project, tell me a little bit about it. If not, what kind of fiction writing have you done? *
As the Year of Writing Magically workshop is largely about working in community, completing this application indicates a commitment to preserving the time and energy necessary to participate actively. There will be online discussions via live chat and private messaging, workshopping scenes and trading critiques with other participants. Do you feel comfortable making that commitment? Why or why not? It's okay to be unsure; it's a big thing. *
How do you feel about writing in a community setting? Does that excite you or make you nervous? Why?
*
What is your favorite thing about writing? What is your least favorite? *
What's the best story you've engaged with in the past year? TV, movie, video game... form doesn't matter. What's the one story you're still thinking about, and why? *
Are you nervous at all about being accepted into the workshop? If so, what makes you nervous? *
What question did I not ask on this application that you wish I did?

STATEMENT OF BELONGING:

Your background does not define you. Everyone from every background is welcomed in this class, and will be treated with respect and gratitude for their participation. You are a writer first, and that's all you need to be to be accepted to this class.

That said, if you have a background that you feel will contribute to the diversity of this workshop, and you feel comfortable sharing that background, you are welcome to do so here. Every community is enriched by a diversity of background and perspective.

Note that this is not a required question, and will not decrease your chances of being accepted into the workshop if you choose not to answer.
WORKSHOP ASSISTANT POSITION: This position will award the selected applicant a 50% discount and a free critique from Lani after the workshop is over.

In return, the selected applicant will perform administrative tasks which will require up to 2 hours per week.

If you are accepted to the workshop, would you like to apply for the WA position?
