Want to take on a leadership role? Read the descriptions of the Board of Directors positions that below and respond to the topic that follows.
1. Director of Engagement
The Director of Engagement is the “Chair” of the Buddy Program Committee. This committee is responsible for facilitating Freeman students’ interaction with exchange students by both matching students based on interests and by promoting the program within the B-school. As the Director of Engagement, responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the application process for interested buddies and matching buddies
- Following up on Freeman buddies through group meetings, individual check-ins, or messaging
- Developing activities for Freeman and exchange buddies to participate in, which may include virtual activities
- Some successful examples from this year were the speed-dating activity and two truths and a lie through Zoom
- Developing other engagement projects outside of the Buddy Program
- Working with the Director of Classroom Relations, Director of Student Outreach, and Director of Strategic Partnerships to develop creative ways to recruit more buddies!
- Updating the Global Guides about developments, progress, participation, and any other relevant information about the Buddy Program in general meetings


2. Director of Student Outreach
The Director of Student Outreach is the “Chair” of the Student Outreach Committee, whose purpose is to coordinate the events put on by the Global Guides, improve these events based on feedback, and develop and implement new events that help promote the mission of the Global Guides. As the Director of Student Outreach, your responsibilities include:
- Coordinating Global Guides’ participation in the following events organized by Freeman Abroad, which represent good opportunities to garner interest in joining the Global Guides:
     - Exchange Student Orientation in August and January
     - Pre-departure Orientation in October and March
- Coordinating the following events organized by the Global Guides:
     - Fall Study Abroad Fair/International Education Week in October
     - Exploring Your Major Internationally panels
- Creating new events
     - For example, a cultural event with ISAB or TIS could be held in April
     - Brainstorming new panel discussion topics
- Submitting Event Planning Form timely for each event to record event details, venue, budget, and marketing plan
- Coordinating with the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Director of Brand Management to recruit students to participate and promote events to Tulane students
- Presenting updates of success measures at general meetings


3. Director of Brand Management
The Director of Brand Management’s goal is to both shape and oversee the image of the Global Guides. As the Director of Brand Management, your responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining a web page with Global Guides’ intros and linking it where necessary
- Developing social media content that attracts new interest, communicates events, and keeps followers interested
- Creating content with exchange students in mind to make sure they are aware of events relevant to them
- Monitoring the image of Global Guides
- Focusing on Global Guides as leaders, which provides marketability on a resume: Members work toward leadership development through project-based activities that demonstrate the professional value of participation
- Finding other ways to build brand equity
- Collaborating with the other directors to communicate events and reach out to students
- Reporting updates at general meetings on success of content in terms of recruitment, attendance of events, or user responses


4. Director of Strategic Partnerships
The Director of Strategic Partnerships is the “Co-Chair” of the Campus Partners Committee with the Director of Diversity and Inclusion. The purpose of this committee is to identify and coordinate possible partnerships with other student organizations to expand the global community that the Global Guides intend to maintain. As the Director of Strategic Partnerships, your responsibilities include:
- Identifying beneficial partnerships with other organizations within the Tulane community, such as Tulane  International Society, ISAB, TU Pals, Lepage center, and other important campus partners
- Coordinating our growing partnership with the BSM Ambassadors
- Brainstorming activities that members of partner organizations can participate in
- Coordinating with the Lepage Center for Entrepreneurship for ways to support/highlight student businesses in Global Guides activities
- Collaborating with other directors to ensure that members of partner organizations are aware of Global Guides programs and able to participate
- Providing relevant updates at general Global Guides meetings about new and existing partnerships and coordinating joint meetings with partners


5. Director of Diversity and Inclusion
The Director of Diversity and Inclusion is the “Co-Chair” of the Campus Partners Committee with the Director of Strategic Partnerships. The Director of Diversity and Inclusion works to develop more inclusive programming for the Global Guides and Freeman Abroad by focusing on:
- Reaching out to diverse groups on campus and in the community for collaboration
- Providing strategic direction for activities/resources on cultural competency, gender differences, disability, sexual harassment, building a climate of equity and inclusion, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity and inclusion values
- Creating resources for more inclusive study abroad, such as interactive ways of learning about scholarships
- Overseeing the scope of outreach by other committees to ensure its inclusivity
- Communicating the needs and desires of exchange students
- Using diversity metrics and reporting to bring necessary changes and improvements to the Global Guides


6. Director of Career Development
The Director of Career Development has the goal of helping Global Guides, study abroad participants, and exchange students identify how they can apply their experiences to forming their career and long-term goals. The Director of Career Development’s responsibilities include:
- Facilitating career workshops for study abroad participants and exchange students
- Communicating with a CMC representative to brainstorm career development activities and improve activities with feedback
- Maintaining and promoting an open network of communication with the CMC for student inquiries
- Organizing one general Global Guides meeting per semester with a CMC representative
- Brainstorming useful activities with the Writing Center
- Promoting resume and career building activities, especially for dual degree students
- Facilitating student-lead workshops about how to formulate resumes for working in other countries
- Creating and revising Global Guides career development outcomes
