Recent harmful rhetoric, threats, and actions have left many local LGBTQ+ youth and adults feeling unsafe and unsupported in their own schools, churches, and communities. These tragic events are a sign that Placer County still has a long way to go in its effort to make LGBTQ+ youth, adults and families feel safe and valued in our community. Placer LGBTQ+ Center/Placer Pride (also known as PRISM-Q) is a 501c3 run by a group of volunteers who have been hard at work to establish an LGBTQ+ center here in Placer County. FEIN: 46-3793424
COVID stalled us out for while, but it is clear that a Center is needed here more than ever now. We are ramping up our efforts to raise the funds needed to establish a space that will provide social and educational events and resources, as well as space for local agencies and organizations to provide services to our LGBTQ+ residents and their families. We have a big dream, and you can be a part of it. Our goal is to raise $75,000+ to locate, lease, furnish, and insure a safe, secure, and accessible space by Fall 2024, to be followed by ongoing efforts to develop into a full-fledged resource and gathering facility.
We have a dedicated five-member Board, but help is needed with many aspects in order to get this Center up and running. View, complete, and submit this Google Form to get involved by offering support, becoming a sponsor, or volunteering your time and skills.
