Senior Gold
The goal of this is to stay connected with each other in this time of isolation and to find ways to get better as athletes, students, teammates, friends, siblings, etc.  I encourage you all to reach out to loved ones and check in on them to see how they are doing.  Take this time to improve your weaknesses and build upon your strengths.  I miss being able to be on deck with you all and look forward to that first practice back.  That being said, today our Governor issued a new order that essentially keeps us out of the pool for another 4 weeks.  I hope that it won't come to that much time and that in the next week or two things may change for the better.  Please take the time to put down your email address below, that will make pushing these out to you all a lot easier.  Below you will find information and questions regarding Peloton Digital, Nike Run Club, goal setting, and becoming students of the sport.  I know that I am taking this time to better myself, to work on my diet, drop some much needed weight and to gather more information on how to become a better coach.

**Disclaimer** The workouts that I will "assign" are recommendations and not a requirement.  Do not do anything that hurts or you are not comfortable with attempting.

Peloton App
This app is free for 90 days, $12.99/month after the 90 days.  So it will be important to cancel before that time comes.  However, there is 145 workouts on here that are body weight only.  Majority of the classes are 10 and 20 minutes long and I will be stringing together several of them a day to get an approximate 45min workout in.  Below is the link to the Peloton Digital signup. Aside from the body weight workouts, there are also outdoor guided runs that I will be recommending if your parents are comfortable with you leaving the house for a short 20-30 minute run. To follow and add Coach MJ, search for Swam4AU.

Would you be open to downloading the Peloton App for recommended dryland workouts? *
Nike Run Club
This is a free app that I will also be recommending runs.  Many of you have Apple Watches and can run the app right through the watch.  If you have a Spotify account, you can even link your playlists to play during the guided runs.  To look for Coach MJ, search for friends and use phoenixcoachmj@gmail.com to find the account that will say Coach Johnson.  At the present moment I am having issues getting the server to allow friend requests between my two accounts that I have setup, but hope that will be corrected shortly.

Become Better Students of the Sport
I would like you all to become better students of the sport in this time out of the water.  Take just 5-10 minutes a day to watch videos of world class athletes.  GoSwim.Tv is offering their content for free if you sign-up and they have a lot of technique content.  YouTube has technique and races from some of the most historic swims of all time.  Please use the question below to leave a link to a video that you recently watched and what you thought about it.

I went ahead and posted a video below.  It's a video of a new American, NCAA, SEC record in the men's 500 free that was set back in February by Kieran Smith of the University of Florida in 4:06.32.  Kieran is the 3rd lane from the top.  The reason I want to show the video is that I want you to pay attention to the legs throughout the race, the extension in the front of the stroke on both hand entries, the head dips below the surface(not looking forward) when not breathing keeping the hips high, the swimmer also submerges into the wall on the turn and doesn't stop the kick until his feet leave the water while executing the turn.  Though this video doesn't show what is going on underwater, there are plenty of videos out there that show what a proper catch in the front of the stroke looks like and I encourage you all to find a good example of such.

After you find a video, please share the link and give a reason as to why you picked it and what was it that you noticed.
