Since 2019 I've been working on a Creative-Commons Licensed Body of Knowledge that would teach people how to build 2D games from the ground up with a different approach from what other books do.
This book doesn't really aim to teach "an engine", but it's more of a collection of "tips and tricks" as well as methods that can be used to build your own game, regardless of the engine.
This project is now officially looking for contributions, in the hope of expanding its horizon and be as useful as possible, to as much people as possible.
