2021 S.R. Science Pitch Competition (S.R.S.P.C)
The S.R. Science Pitch Competition is the first ever science thesis competition hosted by Science Rendezvous at the University of Toronto - St. George. There are 15 spots available and will be selected based on their submission of a short 250-word abstract representing their research thesis. This competition is open to research-stream and professional graduate students in science-related fields at the master’s or doctoral level.

The main goal of the Science Pitch Competition is to provide graduate students with the opportunity to present their current research using only a single PowerPoint slide in an engaging and accessible three-minute pitch to the general public and the judges. Participants must be available on May 8, 2021 from 2:30pm to 5:00pm.

The deadline for this submission is April 16th, 2021 by 5:00pm.

Once spots have been filled and selected, we will send out an email confirmation and ask for further information.

This competition will be host online this year.

1. Introduction

Science Rendezvous UofT St. George welcomes you to participate in Science Rendezvous 2021! Science Rendezvous is a free annual all-day festival that brings science out of the lab and onto our virtual platforms with the ultimate goal of improving student enrollment as well as public involvement in the science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) fields.

2. Participation Agreement Overview

We will be using virtual conferencing tools provided for by third-party service providers as a medium to facilitate Science Rendezvous 2021 virtually. By completing this form you give your consent, understand and assume all associated risks of the designated activity, and agree to abide by the specified behavioural guidelines delineated by the University of Toronto (See Section 4).


3. Outline Collection of Information: The third-party service provider will collect some information from you. Collection of information may vary, to validate user identity. These providers may be using analytics tools and tailored advertisements for their websites based on the users' interests. The service provider collects Internet Protocol (IP) information such as the numeric public IP address, browser information, referring information, the operating system used, as well as cookies. Your personal data may only be processed, including sharing it with third parties, where (1) you have provided your consent which can be withdrawn at any time, (2) we are required by law, (3) processing is required to protect your vital interests or those of another person. *
Use of Likeness: By participating in Science Rendezvous 2021 you acknowledge and agree to grant Science Rendezvous the right to record, film, live stream, photograph, or capture your likeness in any media now available or hereafter. This media may be developed and distributed to without any further approval or payment to you. This includes, but is not limited to, the right to edit such media, and the right to use the media alone or together with other information. *
Intellectual Property:All intellectual property rights to the Science Rendezvous 2021 at UofT St. George’s content, and all materials distributed at or in connection with the Science Rendezvous 2021 at UofT St. George’s are owned by the University of Toronto, the speakers, or artists presenting at the event. You may not use, reproduce, or allow others to use or reproduce any trademarks or trade names appearing at Science Rendezvous 2021 for any reason without prior written permission of the University of Toronto.
