Orchard Hills Art Smart Parent Volunteers
Artsmart is a PTO sponsored Art Appreciation program that takes place during the school day! We are looking for creative parents/grandparents willing to come share information on an artist/art type with their student's class.

Volunteering is easy: Simply choose one of the monthly topics below (listed by grade)-for most of the topics we have portfolios with information/art samples and possible class plans. Research the artist/art type at home and create a plan for presenting it to your student's class. Your student's teacher will work with you to find a mutually convenient time for you to come in and share your new knowledge.

In Kindergarten/First Grade your in-school commitment is about 30 minutes and can include reading books, playing games, and sharing activities. In Second/Third/Fourth Grades the commitment may be 30-50 minutes and can include any of the above plus student observations. 

We are currently looking for class volunteers for JANUARY or FEBRUARY. Please fill out this form and choose the topic you wish to share with the class. If you don't see a topic of interest (remember you do not need any prior knowledge!) but would still like to volunteer for this program, email me ohartsmart@gmail.com. 

***If you wish to volunteer for multiple grades please note that you would need to choose a different topic (the same topic would not be applicable across grades-students in the older grades may have already had that artist presented in a previous year)

Topics Include:

Kindergarten: Marcus Pfister, Sandra Boynton, Mitsumasa Anno

First Grade: Wassily Kandinsky, Bronwyn Bancroft, Winslow Homer, Charles Schulz

Second Grade: Cave Art, Frida Kahlo, Recycled Art

Third Grade: Vincent Van Gogh, The Heidelberg Project (Tyree Guyton), Islamic Art, Henri Rousseau

Fourth Grade: Sports Art, René Magritte, Diego Velasquez, Pop Art
                          

If you have any other artists in mind besides those listed here for your student's grade...email me ohartsmart@gmail.com. Once you register here, you will hear back from me with the next steps for this program.
