I. Application

Any student at Millard North Middle School is eligible for the Mustang Scholar Retreat. The parent or guardian of each child enrolled will fill out a registration form. The school must be kept up to date on any change of address or phone numbers.

II. Tuition and attendance

The fee schedule will be $125 per month per child, August through May. Funds collected for tuition are allocated for, daily student snack/drink groceries, teacher/supervisor payroll, technology equipment, misc. school supplies (ie: paper, pencils, pens etc.), facility/room improvements where MSR is housed. Students may come any or all days of the month that school is in session with the exception of Student Led Conferences. Parents or guardian must inform the Scholar Retreat leaders of expected days the child will attend the Retreat. No later than Friday of the preceding week, notification must be made, either in person or via email to the Retreat leader, which days the student(s) will be attending the Retreat the following week. Notification also must be made if a student will be attending late due to participation in sports or clubs. If a student is absent from school, no additional notification is necessary to the Retreat. Payment is due prior to the first of the month. Any payment not made by the first of the month will mean the student will be dropped from Retreat and a student on the waiting list will be added. We accept cash, check or credit card payments. (Please note: there is a 3.61% bank service charge on the total of all credit card transactions.) Unfortunately, we are not set up for third party billing or direct withdrawal from your financial institution.

**Please keep all receipts with the Tax ID # on them for your yearly tax records.

III. Waiting List and Class sizes

The enrollment at MSR is limited. Students are enrolled on a first come, first serve basis. Those currently enrolled, and their siblings will be given priority. When a family is notified their child is eligible for the MSR, they must continue enrollment by paying the fees, or move to the bottom of the waiting list. Spots will not be held for students who are not in attendance for a period of time. Families will need to continue payment to avoid being moved to the waiting list.

IV. Activities

Students are encouraged to participate in sports and clubs. They are welcome to come to the Retreat immediately after their activity. Students may not leave the North Middle School campus unless they are on a sponsored activity. Students leaving campus unsupervised will not be allowed into the Retreat that day, and parents will be notified. Parents will be notified every time that their child is scheduled to attend Retreat and does not come, unless absent from school.

V. Times

The Retreat will run every school day (with the exception of a few dates that will be communicated prior to the start of the school year) from 3:00 until the student is picked up by a parent or their designee. Students must report to the designated room no later than 3:15 unless the parent has prearranged with Retreat supervisors the student attending a club, or other school activity. Students who are working with teachers, or have detentions, should contact the supervisors during the day to inform them where they will be and what time they expect to come to Retreat. All students must be picked up by 6:00 p.m. Any time a student is picked up after 6:00 the parent will be required to pay a penalty of $1.00 per minute directly to the teacher on duty.

VI. Emergency Care

Students participating in Retreat must have a signed Registration form with consent for emergency care. Any time emergency care is necessary, parents will be contacted immediately.

VII. Behavior

Students are expected to maintain the same behavior standards as they do during the school day. Students who break a rule are subject to the same discipline penalties as they are during the school day.

VIII. Homework

Students will receive a snack and then work on homework each afternoon. Teachers will be present to give students help, if needed. Students should bring all materials they will need with them to Retreat. After homework is complete, students may participate in games and other activities selected by supervisors.

IX. Pick-up Procedures

Students should be picked up in the Information Center. A sign out sheet will be available and sign out will be required for each student. If you need to reach your child or Retreat staff after 3:45, please call (402) 715-1243. This phone will be answered by Retreat staff only after 3:45. Messages for the Retreat staff should go through the main office before 3:45. That number is 715-1280.
