1) CAPS - Well-Being at Stanford: Resources for You & Your Community

Speaker: Inge Margrethe Hansen
 
Dr. Inge Hansen, a clinical psychologist, is the Director of Well-Being at Stanford, a newly re-conceptualized unit focused on helping students lead healthy, balanced and fulfilling lives. She is also the co-founder and Director of the Weiland Health Initiative, which is dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness across all genders and sexualities; and the Outreach Strategy Director for both CAPS and Well-Being at Stanford.


2) Immigration (F1/J1 student) Wellness: De-Stressing Your Next 6 Months by Bechtel International Center

Mario Mihelcic is an International Student Advisor at the Bechtel International Center. In his role as an international student advisor, he serves as a SEVIS Designated School Official for F-1 students and an Alternate Responsible Officer for J-1 students. Additionally, Mario helps to coordinate the New International Graduate Students Orientation, and writes and narrates YouTube videos for the Bechtel International Center YouTube channel.

Angela ('97, MA '01) is committed to the development of happy, healthy, and high-achieving humans in thriving communities. After spending many years advising the California Department of Education on best practices in health education and school climate, she is back on the Farm with the Mind Over Money team to equip all Stanford students with knowledge and skills to be financially well.


8) An Inside Look at Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS)

Speaker: Suzie Bruch

Having attended Caltech for undergrad, Dr. Suzie Bruch has a special appreciation for engineering and engineers.  Ultimately she chose a career in medicine, spending years in emergency and crisis psychiatry, addressing psychiatric conditions in the medically ill, and treating individuals with severe mental illness before coming to Stanford.  As a psychiatrist at CAPS, she enjoys working with our bright and interesting students and learning about life on-campus. She has participated in CAPS long-range planning committee and the Mental Health and Well-Being Task Force and has particularly enjoyed teaching psychiatry and psychology trainees.  Outside of work, she finds joy in nature, animals, exercise, food, sports, and friendly competition.

Speaker: Tiffany Steinwert

Tiffany Steinwert, Ph.D. became Dean for Religious Life at Stanford University in February of 2019. She previously served as Dean of Hendricks Chapel at Syracuse University and Dean for Religious and Spiritual Life at Wellesley College. Dean Steinwert brings with her experience as an ordained clergywoman, administrator, and a leader in spiritual life in higher education. At Stanford, Steinwert nurtures religious, spiritual, moral, and ethical education for students, staff, and faculty. She aims to build relationships amidst difference, and to cultivate healthy contemplative practices for the transformation of self and world.


10) "What Do I DO with Sadness?": Emotional Intelligence and Grief
Monday, January 27 from 3pm-4pm

Speaker: Donnovan Somera Yisrael, MA

Donnovan has been educating and empowering the Stanford Community (and beyond) towards greater physical and emotional health for over 25 years. He seeks to first learn and then teach the art and science of healing, health and happiness through presentations, workshops and courses on positive psychology, decision-making and healthy romantic relationships. For over a decade Donnovan has worked as a group facilitator, camp counselor, crisis response volunteer and educator with Kara in Palo Alto. An organization that provide grief and loss counseling, groups and a grief camp for youth at no cost to the community.
