When: April 27th (Saturday), 8:00am to 5:00pm
Where: Innovative Technologies Complex 85 Murray Hill Rd, Vestal, NY 13850
On the second day of the summit, we will learn about the progress on Day 1, participate in a climate simulation exercise, and learn what we can do in our personal lives to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The day will begin with reporting out on the previous day and providing attendees with climate projections for the area. Next, attendees will participate in En-ROADS, an online simulator that provides policymakers, educators, businesses, the media, and the public with the ability to test and explore cross-sector climate solutions. After lunch, we will split into two groups—one for homeowners and one for renters. Each group will have representatives from organizations that will teach participants about what they can do to reduce their carbon footprint. Experts in the areas of energy, food, waste, resiliency/disaster preparedness, and health will be on hand to lead activities related to each topic.
Additionally, ICS Industries are sponsoring a recycling collection event for electronics (such as TV's, monitors, computers, etc.), appliances (such as microwaves, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, etc.), metal items (such as small tools), books, newspapers, magazines, and paper documents, all at no charge during Day 2 of the Climate Change Summit! Paper documents will be shredded and computer hard drives will be disintegrated. Will not be accepted: tires, hazardous waste (such as motor oil, paint, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, chemicals, etc.).
