ACCESS in STEM Scholars Program Application 2024
The “Achieving Change in our Communities for Equity and Student Success (ACCESS) in STEM” scholars program at UW Tacoma supports talented, low income students in qualified STEM majors by providing mentoring, a living learning community, a course-based undergraduate research or introduction to design course, and scholarship support for up to $10,000/yr for your first two years at UW Tacoma, and up to $2000/yr in year 3 and 4, based on need. Early ACCESS to Math is supported in the summer before you start at UWT. The scholarship provides funds that provides the option for you to live on campus at Court 17 in a STEM cluster with supportive programming. One-on-one faculty mentoring, group mentoring and skills workshops via the required TUNIV190 Success in STEM seminar, and a focus on equity and inclusion in STEM help develop a sense of community, identity, and empowerment. The ACCESS scholars research experiences (TME499 or TESC210) engage you in an interdisciplinary, community use-inspired study of energy and water, or local urban environmental pollution.
