Foods/Fashions (Miss Toeckes) - An introduction of safety and equipment will start this course.Through several labs students will learn proper measuring, cutting and cooking techniques. Labs may include breakfasts, soup, simple lunches and suppers.
Sew Be It! - This hands-on course reviews proper threading of the sewing machine, equipment and safety. You will learn how to properly pin patterns on grain, follow the symbols on the pattern and the written instructions to complete a pair of flannel pajama bottoms. If that isn’t enough, learn to sew in a zipper while making a lined pencil case. This project is independent and uses videos to guide you along.Learning Opportunities (Mrs. Pasiuk) This Learning Opportunities section will be focused on keeping caught up in Language Arts and Humanities, as well as working on your reading and writing skills to allow for greater success in your classes.
Construction (Mr. LaGrange) - Construction 9 is a continuation of the grade 8 program. Students will continue their work in working with plans and drawings, move into the advanced use of power tools, and undertake projects with increased attention to detail with a focus on skill development. Potential collaboration with Notre Dame Highschool construction program.
French (Mrs. Matus) - Bonjour! In this FULL YEAR option we will study French vocabulary, grammar, and the cultures of a variety of French-speaking countries. You will have the opportunity to listen to, speak, read and write in French.
Art/Activism (Mrs. MacLure) - Explore world and social justice issues that matter to you. Creatively raise awareness for these issues using your artistic talents (visual art, music, performance art, poetry etc.)
Drama (Miss Nokes) - In this class, students will build upon previously learned skills to portray more compelling characters and complex scenes. Students will use various creative drama techniques to build ensemble, stimulate imagination, movement, and role play with and emphasis on movement and stage presence. Students will focus on realistic acting, commanding audience attention and developing a stage presence.
Media/Tech (Mrs. Finnigan) - Students will develop media and technology skills. They will learn about a variety of media and technology and will work to create different media projects using a variety of technologies.
Mastering Middle School (Mr. Richard) - Take this opportunity to enjoy your last year in middle school by diving into your school community. This class will focus on taking the necessary steps to set yourself up for success in high school.
Outdoor Education ( Mr. Christensen) - Students will learn a variety of outdoor skills. They will learn fire starting, how to find direction without a compass, what to pack on a hike, bear safety, and shelter building. These activities will be learned in the classroom as well as outside and on fieldtrips.
