Middle School Competitive Robotics Application
***Are we limiting the class size?***

Only eight students will be chosen for the 7th and 8th grade Competitive Robotics team. Selection will be based on recommendations from current math and science teachers, grades in academic courses and conduct. Mr. Vargas will notify you whether or not you have been chosen for the 2023-2024 Competitive Robotics team.

Middle School Competitive Robotics Expectations
  1. Desire to design, build and program robots based on specifications from First LEGO League (FLL).
  2. Ability to confidently present skills during competitions at school and at other locations.
  3. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team on assignments both inside and outside of class.
  4. Ability to stay on task and follow instructions.
  5. Attendance at a minimum of two First LEGO League tournaments (tournaments are held on Saturday - dates will be communicated as soon as they are set). Competition attendance will be a test grade.
  6. Ability to attend a few after school (3:20pm - 4:00pm) or morning meetings (7:20am - 8:00am) if necessary, in preparation for the tournament.
  7. Ability to behave appropriately during class and competition times. Misconduct of any kind may be grounds for dismissal (subject to the instructor's decision).
  8. Knowledge of robotics or programming is a prerequisite.
  9. Excellent work habits and conduct.
  10. All team members will be required to pay a $75 fee to defray the costs of team shirts, First LEGO League registration, and technology support.
