Registration:  YBC's 2024 Area-Wide Tournament
Day and Time:  Saturday, April 6 from 9:00 am - 1:30 pm (Please arrive by 8:30 am)
Location:  Covenant Life Church/School GYM (7503 Muncaster Mill Rd.  Gaithersburg, MD  20877)
Cost:  $40 per student
(Please register each member of family separately)
4 Divisions: PreK-2nd Grade, 3rd-5th Grade, 6th-8th Grade, 9th-12th Grade
# of Rounds:  There will be five rounds
Medals:  Each participant will receive a beautiful, Chess-themed medal
Trophies:  Will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners in each division
TEAM* Trophies: Will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place
*What constitutes a TEAM?  (As long as 3+ students from your school are registered, you are automatically considered a "TEAM".)   Your school could end up winning a "TEAM" trophy, and you can then take it back to your school!  Wear your school T-shirts/Colors to the Tournament!
Food/Drinks:  Water, Gatorade and light snacks will be provided for $1.00 per item.  Please consider bringing your own snacks and lunch to eat between rounds.  (There are multiple lunch/fast food restaurants within 3-4 miles of Covenant Life School.  However, we ask that tournament "participants" do not leave the school between rounds.)

YBC will present medals and trophies at the end of the Tournament.  Do you agree to make every effort for your child to be present for this recognition ceremony--whether they have won or lost?  (Please be aware we are also teaching "Sportsmanship" qualities throughout our programs on both the winning and the losing side.  It is very important for our students to cheer each other on with a good attitude--even when they have not won.) *

YBC's Refund Policy for Area-Wide Tournaments:  NO REFUNDS.  Regarding cancellations:  If you need to cancel, please courteously inform us ASAP--at least 3 days (if not more) before the Tournament.
1.  YBC spends a lot of time preparing for your child + their first opponent based on their personal skill levels.  We take this very seriously.
2.  When we have a No-Show at an Area-Wide Tournament, it affects not only 5 other students (5 rounds), but also the computer programming we use to organize your child's opponents.
