This training is offered to missionaries and their families. It is especially recommended for teams anticipating service in coastal, lake, or river allocations.
The purpose is to instruct and reinforce basic water-travel safety practices, provide information about various types of safety equipment available through JAARS Sea Operations, and provide hands-on experience in how to use the equipment. This training can reduce trauma in water travel and increase the chances of surviving an accident.
Our basic approach includes theoretical discussion as well as practical, in-water training.
- Part 1: Classroom
- Part 2: In-water
Parts 1 and 2 are typically conducted on the same day, and Part 3 is typically a separate day. When conditions aren't favorable for open-water training, Parts 2 and 3 may be combined in a single pool session.
The whole family is encouraged to participate, and optional child care will be available.
