Student Responsibilities(1) Students will bring their Chromebook to school every morning fully charged. If a student forgets to bring their Chromebook, the student understands they are still responsible for the required work they might miss as a result.(2) Students will transport their Chromebook safely and securely. Students may obtain their own school appropriate case to protect the Chromebook and as a way to identify their Chromebook. Students are responsible for the care of their Chromebook and keeping it clean.(3) The Chromebook is to be used for educational and academic purposes.(4) Students will only use the school wireless network connections while at school. Students will not connect to any cellular or non-school wireless network connections on school property.(5) Students may not attempt, without permission from school staff, to load or install software or modify Chromebook operating systems or bypass the school Chromebook management. (6) Chromebooks will be managed as needed by school staff and school technology personnel. *

2. Student / Parents and Guardian Responsibilities(1) EUSD provides internet content filtering on the Chromebooks as per federal laws (CIPA). Parents understand that content filtering does not guarantee that all inappropriate content will be made inaccessible. Students are expected and responsible to avoid inappropriate content and will not attempt to bypass the content filter in any way. Any issues or concerns with content filtering should be reported to the school staff immediately. Eureka Union School District is not responsible for internet content or materials outside of the school setting. (2) Students / Parents and Guardians accept full responsibility for the return of their Chromebook, when they leave the school district or transfer to another school district, in good condition as it was like at the checkout day. Normal wear and tear are acceptable and will be reviewed by staff or the Technology Department to be granted the normal wear and tear status at the time of check-in. Any obvious damage other than normal wear and tear will be subject to a repair charge and may require a replacement charge. (3) Parents/guardians will monitor usage on the Chromebook, including E-mail, and internet privileges outside of school hours. *

3. Damage, loss of use, and Repair Responsibilities(1) The student and Parent / Guardian are held financially liable for the loss or theft of the Chromebook and/or charger. The student and Parent/Guardian are responsible for damage that can include, but not limited to,  trackpad, audio port, screen/LCD damage, and charger connector damage.  The damages may also include unauthorized alterations to the Chromebook, attempts to destroy data of other users, and uploading or creation of computer viruses. The replacement cost of the Chromebook is $250. The replacement cost for the charger is $30.(2) Students and Parents / Guardians understand no attempts will be made to modify, reconfigure, take apart, or repair the Chromebook or the charger. (3) Willful, malicious, or negligent damage to any part of the Chromebook including the charger could result in the removal of privileges, disciplinary action, and/or financial charges to the parent/guardian for any repair costs or replacement cost up to $250 for the Chromebook.  (4) Students will immediately report any malfunctions, damage, or loss of Chromebook to the school staff member or the Principal of the school. (5) The Students and Parents/guardians can choose to purchase the school’s Chromebook Insurance program for $25. *

4. Compliance of Loaner Agreement(1) All financial obligations must be taken care of prior to the end of the school year. Failure to discharge any financial obligation may result in a hold being placed upon report cards, transcripts, diplomas, or the transfer of records. Failure to honor financial obligations may also lead to loss of privileges for school-sponsored extracurricular events. (2) Consequences for failure to abide by the terms of the contract (inappropriate use) may include one or more of the following, and will depend on the frequency and severity of incidents involving Chromebooks and other technology-related violations: Parents contacted, Meeting with Principal/Assistant Principal, Loss of use of Chromebook at home, conference with parents and school admin team, Loss of use of Chromebook at school. *
