A growing number of legal advocates are working to protect the interests of future generations by mitigating existential risk (i.e., risks that could lead to human extinction or other irreversible destruction of future human potential). How do these advocates design strategies around such low-probability/high-impact events? How do they seek to faithfully represent the multitudes of future generations who are silent stakeholders in decisions we make today? And what can they learn from the existing literature on law and social change?

Please join HLS Effective Altruism for a presentation by Professor John Bliss, the author of a forthcoming study of "Existential Advocacy," which will address these questions and other topics that may be of interest to law students who hope to use their careers to positively shape the long-term future. All members of the Harvard community are welcome.
