A growing number of legal advocates are working to protect the interests of future generations by mitigating existential risk (i.e., risks that could lead to human extinction or other irreversible destruction of future human potential). How do these advocates design strategies around such low-probability/high-impact events? How do they seek to faithfully represent the multitudes of future generations who are silent stakeholders in decisions we make today? And what can they learn from the existing literature on law and social change?
