Cheverly STEM 2023-24 Registration
Welcome to the Cheverly STEM Education Center!

Now in our tenth year, we are thrilled to be offering new and exciting classes like Biomechanics, Speech & Debate, Greek & Latin Root Words, Environmental Science, Theater, Sports in Society, Organic & Biochemistry, and Take a Hike as well as standard favorites like Engineering, Biology and math, math and more math. Many of our core high school classes, (biology, chemistry, math), will meet two days/week, on both Tue and Thur.

As always, our mission is two-fold, (1) to provide courses not typically available to homeschoolers, and (2) support a unique and diverse community of learners.  Although we are not a school, classes at Cheverly STEM can support the homeschool journey.  Our classes are student-centered and project-based as well as academically rigorous and are taught by education specialists or professionals in their field.

Please note that Cheverly STEM is an inclusive environment and have amended our Code of Conduct this year regarding the use of preferred personal pronouns.  Please be sure to review our code of conduct as part of the registration process.

Our class size is usually 12-15, some as small as 8 and some as large as 18, depending on the type of class. We will run a waitlist for any class that fills.

Our academic calendar runs September through May, divided into four 7-week quarters.  Our classes meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 am - 3 pm with a full hour for lunch, noon-1:00.  Many of our classes are cumulative in nature making them difficult to join mid-year.  For these classes it is best to consider taking it for the full-year.   Teacher bios and more detailed course descriptions are available on our newly updated (and still developing) website CheverlySTEM.com.

Parent Volunteers
As we've grown over the years, we come to realize that we need a little more help. This year we are asking each family to volunteer at least once/quarter.  Many hands make the load light and parental involvement helps off-set the need to hire more staff which helps us keep our fees low.  The volunteer sign-up form will be available at the end of the summer as a link on our website.

There are two parent help categories this year
1. Lunch Monitor - assists monitoring students during our lunch hour and helps to clean up at the end
2. Afternoon Clean-Up - helps wipe down rooms, remove trash, and get ready for the next day

A sign-up form will be available at the start of each quarter.  We appreciate all of the help and support of our parents and families!
