Introduction: Purpose of the Study  

Thank you for consenting to answer some questions in this written questionnaire for a research study on aspects of Environmental and Climate Change education within the existing education system as it has been operating over recent years in Dublin.  This study is part of a research project being undertaken by Asfand Bakht Yar, B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, as part of his MSc studies in Sustainable Development with TU Dublin and with the participation of the Easy Treesie project which is operating with registered charity Crann, Trees for Ireland.

Purpose of the Study:
The purpose of the study is to gain an understanding of how much general information Dublin school children and the educational community has about Environmental and Climate Change issues.
Ultimately, this research will be included in the research dissertation of Asfand Bakht Yar.

Do you consider tree planting has a role as part of a solution to address mitigation of the climate crisis? *
Of the two options below, which sapling would be best to plant in Ireland that would have the greater capacity to capture carbon from the atmosphere over the next 30 years; a native Irish oak or a non-native Sitka Spruce?   *
Do you think planting saplings on public land near schools (for example in a public park) for approximately an hour as part of a structured curriculum-based workshop provided free by an expert team would be a worthwhile school activity? Please explain your answer. *
Do you consider the Global Climate Protest movement being lead by Greta Thunberg and others have a positive or negative role in raising the awareness of pupils regarding climate issues? *
