Tipi Confessions is an Indigenous-produced sexy storytelling and cabaret show based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada produced by two Indigenous women: PhD student Kirsten Lindquist (Métis Nation of Alberta), and Assistant Professor (MacEwan University) and PhD student Brittany Johnson (Beaver First Nation). We are an offshoot of the popular Austin, Texas show, Bedpost Confessions™, founded in 2010.
Thinking and talking about sex is hot! In 2017, SING faculty wondered if science is sexy enough to generate stories and performances for a sexy science-themed show. Shortly after in 2018, the first SING USA Tipi Confessions/Sexy Science Confessions show launched with rave reviews. We are back with another edition of Sexy Science Confessions, this time in Vancouver! Sex and Science belong together - and we are here to prove just how HOT science can be and how Indigenous sex and sexualities can’t be bound by the categories of science!
We are looking for
diverse voices from the Vancouver area - especially if stories like yours often go untold. We are an ALL-INCLUSIVE enterprise: we welcome storytellers and performers of all genders, races, sexualities, and abilities. Submissions from other parts of Turtle Island will also be considered, with primacy given to those who live locally. If you are an attendee or participant of SING, we would love to see your sexy science submissions!
Our shows have featured spoken word readings, personal narrative, memoir, fiction, burlesque, kink-themed performance, live musicians, and short theater performances/stage readings. We are also open to stand-up comics, video clips, and lively short lectures. Performances should be no less than 5 minutes and no longer than 15 minutes.

Below, we ask you to describe and explain your proposed performance, but also include some context for us such as motivation and intent. If you have specific questions about our expectations, please ask! Please keep your submission to 1500 words or less, and keep in mind the theme of the show: Sexy Science Confessions.
The Review Process: EXTENDED TO APRIL 10
Acceptances may be contingent upon an audition/interview (via Zoom). We encourage you to submit sexually-themed stories and performances. Your performance doesn’t need to be “erotic” (although we love well-crafted erotica), but it should pertain positively to sex and sexuality. Consider telling your story from a political, humorous, creative, feminist, or educational perspective. We want stories that fit our mission of ethics, education, and entertainment around sex, sexuality, and gender.
