The Downingtown West Girls Wrestling Team invites all local girls K-12 to join us in our third year of Girls Wrestling Nights! We invite all K-12 Downingtown Girls to join us!
Registration is NOT required but helpful for us to gauge our numbers for the night.
No prior experience necessary, no wrestling shoes needed, wear basic workout clothes and socks.
As Women's Wrestling has become the fastest growing sport in the nation the number of girls participating has seen over a 200% increase of girls participating in wrestling at the high school level in the PA over the last several years. Pennsylvania officially sanctioned Girls Wrestling as a PIAA sport during the 2023-2024 season.
In our inaugural 2023-2024 season, we had four wrestlers who consistently placed in the top ten at every regular-season tournament we attended, with at least three athletes earning spots on the podium at each event. Our achievements included two district medalists, two regional medalists, two qualifiers for the states in Hershey, and one state finalist.

Currently, High School Girls will compete only against other girls and will participate in their own post season with states held alongside the boys in Hershey. Our MS girls may still compete both against boys and girls through out the season but have post season girls only qualifiers and state. This could change if the number of MS girls increases. Downingtown Thunder (K-8th) has multiple girls who compete each season.
Downingtown West is hoping to have their biggest team yet, we hope that if you are in grades 9-12, that you will consider joining us!
We are encouraging girls at DMS, West and our community to attend.
These events are to give girls the chance to talk with our current female wrestlers about their experiences in the sport. Then we will introduce the sport of wrestling and have all participants learn what the sport has to offer to girls, and how much fun the mat can be!
Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and observe.
