A sponsor should be chosen because he/she is an exemplary, active member in the Catholic faith community.  This person should help to guide you in your spiritual development and play an active role in your life and fellowship with the faith community.  To be practical, keep in mind the sponsor should be present to you during your preparation.  
Requirements of Sponsors:
Practicing Catholic (other than parent) who fully initiated (received Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation), lives a Christian way of life, takes an active interest in your faith life, and is a minimum of 16 years of age.
