Preshow theme: Ballet 13: A Tribute to Taylor Swift
Featuring music selections from Taylor Swift's albums.
All interested male and female ballet students between the ages of 7 and 18 who have had at least three (3) years of ballet classes, and are currently enrolled in a dance program that includes ballet, are invited to audition. We can accommodate a limited number of dancers for this production and possible eliminations may be made, if we exceed the maximum number of dancers. This is a competitive process; not all children are guaranteed a role.
Participation Fee - payment is due prior to audition. Upon completion of this google form you will receive a link to make your payment online. Cash and Check will be accepted on the day of audition at check in, please bring exact change.
All ages: $80.00 (cash, check or credit card) includes tax.
The fee covers the cost of the rehearsals, costume rental and production. Dancers may be required to supplement their costumes with personal items. No refunds will be issued after assignment of cast.
Audition Dress Requirements:
Females: Pink tights, Black leotard, ballet shoes
Males: Black tights, white T-shirt
Hair: In a bun or otherwise back from the face and firmly secured.
What You Can Expect for the Audition:
All participants must attend an in person audition. Dancers will learn a group combo that they will perform for the artistic staff.
Lead Dancer Casting
All casting is at the discretion of the staff. It is common that the directors are looking for specific characteristics for certain roles and may choose dancers directly from the general audition. Typically dancers chosen for lead roles are 12 and over, but occasionally there is a need for younger dancers in some of these roles.
Pointe Audition
The Pointe audition, is open to those who would like to perform en pointe. These dancers must have a minimum of two years en pointe and will need to perform a one minute solo in addition to the group combo. For the solo audition they will need to provide music on a device/phone with downloaded music to connect to a sound system (no streaming). There is no guarantee that a pointe role will be assigned to those who audition en Pointe. Pointe auditions will be held at the end of your regular prescribed time slot.
Please note:
- This is a ballet production - a “general” combination dance class is not adequate preparation for the terminology or experience required for this audition process and/or performance.
- Previous participation does not guarantee acceptance, regardless of previous roles or the number of years in Ballet Under the Stars.
- No absences will be permitted between July 23 - August 5 (see attendance policy). We will work around reasonable requests such as vacations and educational opportunities that are outside of the July 23 - August 5 black out. However we ask that you keep these dates limited. Rehearsals are critical for the development of the show, please do not apply if you are anticipating missing more than one week of rehearsals.
Registration Dates & Times:
Ages 7-8: Saturday, April 27 (check-in 9 a.m. | audition time 9:30-11 a.m.)
Ages 11-13: Saturday, April 27 (check-in 10:30 a.m. | audition time 11 a.m.-1 p.m.)
Ages 9-10: Sunday, April 28 (check-in 12:30 | audition time 1-2:30 p.m.)
Ages 14 & up: Sunday, April 28 (check-in 2 p.m. | audition time 2:30-4:30 p.m.)
After auditions you will be notified by email of cast selections no later than Friday, May 24.
Please make sure to fill out this form entirely and CAREFULLY. The spelling of your child's name in this form is what is used to create the program and their possible certificate. The email address you provide is a main part of how we will communicate with you. If these things are not completed and or spelled incorrectly, this can lead to a delay in information or your child's name going to print incorrectly. We greatly appreciate your time in completing this entire form.
