Learning Event #11 - You Shall Not Covet
What is the 9th Commandment? *
What is the 10th Commandment? *
Coveting and wanting something are not quite the same.  When you want something, you're willing to work for it to get it; when you covet something, you're willing to take it from someone else in order to get it.  Have you ever had something you wanted so badly that you would be willing to steal it?  How did you resist the temptation? *
Write 3 things you are grateful to have.  They can be items (phone, car, your own bedroom) or relationships (a good friend, loving parents) or qualities (generous, faithful, heroic) that you possess.  Why are you thankful for these? *
How can you express gratitude for what you have? *
One of the things that someone can covet is your life - if you have a nice house, or lots of money, or an amazing spouse, other people might be jealous and covet what you have.  Do you think that this coveting contributes to identity theft?  Why or why not? *
How is breaking these commandments like breaking all of the other commandments? *

Memory Work - Read the following verse.  Why does it apply to the 9th and 10th commandments?  "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." -Romans 12:2 *
