Carmel High School Rugby - Player Code of Conduct Contract

By joining the Carmel Rugby Team you are choosing to be a part of a long tradition that has been around for over two decades. Our goal, as always, is to improve upon our past efforts. As the tradition of Carmel Rugby continues, expectations increase. Below are expectations of your conduct. All violations of this conduct code are subject to but not limited to extra conditioning, loss of playing time, suspension, and in worst cases expulsion/dismissal from the program.

_____ As a Carmel Rugby player, I will honor the core values of Carmel Rugby. I will not involve myself in any activities that would reflect poorly on myself, my community, or this rugby club.
_____ As a Carmel Rugby player, I will achieve a minimum of a 2.0 Grade point average. (self-reported)
_____ As a Carmel Rugby player, I will meet the required practices each week, unless I request to be excused in advance and am approved to be excused by my coach.
_____ As a Carmel Rugby player, I will not participate in or condone foul play.
_____ As a Carmel Rugby player, I will not participate in any activities involving illegal drugs, tobacco, alcohol or other reckless behavior.   If I am found or suspected to be in the presence of others (regardless of team affiliation) participating in any of the above illegal activities I will be subject to the same discipline and expulsion from the team.  Furthermore, I understand and acknowledge the Carmel-Clay HS Athletic Department may be notified which under IHSAA guidelines results in a 1 year suspension of any high school sports activities.
_____ As a Carmel Rugby player, I will show respect to all peers, players, volunteers, coaching staff, spectators and facilities. I will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times, be a good teammate and support others who are new to the game, and not bully or demean other players on my team or the other team. Sportsmanship is the foundation of Carmel Rugby.
_____ As a Carmel Rugby player, I will show up to practice early, kitted up and ready to take the field at practice time, with my best attitude and effort.
_____ As a Carmel Rugby player, I have the responsibility to portray my team and myself in a positive manner. I will present a positive image and not do anything to embarrass myself, my team, my family or the club.  If I participate in any electronic communications (e.g., texting, e-mail), interact on any social networking site(s), or use social media (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok) I must avoid inappropriate and offensive behaviors. I will not post anything I would not want my coaches or parents/guardian to see. If my social media profile and its contents or other electronic communications are found to be inappropriate in accordance with the behaviors listed below, I will be subject to the club’s disciplinary action.  Examples of inappropriate and offensive behaviors may include, but are not limited to:
• Photos, videos, and comments that are of a sexual nature. This includes links to websites of a pornographic nature and other inappropriate material.
• Photos, videos, comments or posters showing the personal use of alcohol, drugs and tobacco.
• Content online that is unsportsmanlike, derogatory, demeaning, defamatory, or threatening toward any other individual or entity (for example, derogatory comments regarding another player or club)
• Any communications including posts depicting or encouraging unacceptable behaviors such as violent or illegal activities (for example, sexual harassment, vandalism, underage drinking, or illegal drug use).
_____ If I receive a suspension, I will continue to attend all practices as an observer and support the team.
