The purpose of these workshops is to strengthen the skills of owners and employees of small businesses, so they can use mathematical analysis to plan for the future.  This series is especially designed for people who are applying for a loan or investment, or who want to start or expand a business.

The workshops will take place at the Fields Corner Business Lab, located at 1452 Dorchester Ave, 4th Floor, Fields Corner, Dorchester MA.  The workshop is free, but you must pre-register using this form.  Seats are limited, and preference will be given to cooperatives and businesses owned by, or employing people with barriers to business ownership, such as immigrants, people of color, low-wealth individuals, and those with CORI records.  More than one person from each business can come, but each person should fill out this form.  

If you are preparing to apply for a loan or start or expand your business, we recommend that you come to all 6 workshops.  Others may come to any of the first four workshops that interest them.  Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English and Spanish, and some snacks will be provided.  We regret that we cannot offer child care, however.  All workshops are on Monday evenings from 5-7 pm - see below for the dates.

Individual help will be available between workshops for those who request it.  You can use this time to ask specific questions about your own business, to clarify things you want more understanding of, or for more attention on your business's actual numbers.

Some skills in math will be helpful, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, ratios, and how to locate a point on a chart with an X and Y axis.  If you are nervous about this, please talk to us - we can provide a review of these so you can be comfortable using them.  You will have a choice of doing the work on a spreadsheet (bring your own computer if you can), or on paper worksheets.  Both methods are just as valid.  Either way, it will be helpful to have a calculator (most phones will have one).

El propósito de estos talleres es fortalecer las habilidades de los propietarios de pequeñas empresas, para que puedan usar el análisis matemático para planificar el futuro. Esta serie está especialmente diseñada para personas que solicitan un préstamo o una inversión, o que desean iniciar o expandir un negocio.

Los talleres se realizarán en el Fields Corner Business Lab, ubicado en 1452 Dorchester Ave, 4th Floor, Fields Corner, Dorchester MA. El taller es gratuito, pero debe registrarse previamente utilizando este formulario. Los cupos son limitados y se dará preferencia a las cooperativas y empresas que son propiedad de personas con barreras a la propiedad de empresas, como los inmigrantes, las personas de color, las personas de escasos recursos y las que tienen registros CORI. Puede venir más de una persona de cada negocio, pero cada persona debe completar este formulario.

Si se está preparando para solicitar un préstamo o comenzar o ampliar su negocio, le recomendamos que asista a los 6 talleres. Otros pueden venir a cualquiera de los primeros cuatro talleres que les interesen. Se proporcionará interpretación simultánea en inglés y español, y se proporcionarán algunos bocadillos. Algunas habilidades en matemáticas serán útiles, como la suma, resta, multiplicación, división, fracciones, relaciones y cómo ubicar un punto en una gráfica con un eje X e Y. Si está nervioso por esto, comuníquese con nosotros; podemos proporcionar una revisión de estos para que se sienta cómodo usándolos. Tendrá la opción de hacer el trabajo en una hoja de cálculo (traiga su propia computadora si puede) o en hojas de trabajo en papel. Ambos métodos son igual de válidos. De cualquier manera, será útil tener una calculadora (la mayoría de los teléfonos tendrán una).
