QUESTIONNAIRE ON BEST PRACTICES IN SAFETY CULTURE FOR EUROPEAN RAILWAY COMPANIES
PRESENTATION:

The Spanish Railway Safety Agency (AESF) together with ESM, Research Institute for Safety and Human Factors, are carrying out a study on Safety Culture in order to draw up recommendations on best practices to promote Safety Culture. In this phase of the study we want to collect best practices to promote this culture from different companies in the railway sector within the European framework.


WHAT IS SAFETY CULTURE?

According to the European Union Agency for Railways (EUAR), "Safety Culture refers to the interaction between the Safety Management System (SMS) requirements, the way in which people understand them, according to their attitudes, values and their beliefs, and the way they actually act, which is reflected in their decisions and their behaviour. "


WHAT DO WE MEAN BY BEST PRACTICES?

A BEST PRACTICE is an experience that has been shown to work well and produce good results and is therefore recommended as a model.


OBJECTIVE OF THIS QUESTIONNAIRE:

Identify best practices in Safety Culture that you have put into practice in your organization.

INSTRUCTIONS:

The questionnaire comprises a series of questions aimed at identifying and learning about best practices in safety culture carried out by your organization. The questions have been designed in such a way that you can write the answer with the level of detail and extension that you consider appropriate. Some of the questions have been repeated in the questionnaire so that you can include up to two best practices.

In case any of the best practices reported are selected because of their interest or representativeness, if you authorise us, we will contact your organisations´s designated contact person again for more detailed information.

WHO SHOULD ANSWER THIS QUESTIONNAIRE?

This questionnaire should be completed by the person responsible for any of the following Areas and / or Departments of your Institution: Safety, SMS, Human and Organizational Factors, Safety Culture.
