OMEA Equity Director Application
If you are interested in being considered for the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Director position with the OMEA, please complete this Google Form no later than 9:00 pm on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020.  The OMEA would like to thank you for your interest and for your time in completing this application.

Please include any experience and interest you have based on the responsibilities and duties of the Director as noted in the "Call for Applications" for the OMEA's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Director.

Responsibilities include:
~ Demonstrate an understanding of intersectionality of equity work through lived experience. Previous experience working with an organization/association is not a prerequisite for this position.
~ Exhibit a commitment to working with diversity, equity, and inclusion in music education
~ Examine the existing framework for OMEA to include more representation in the general membership and support marginalized voices
~ Collaborate with others to work towards growth and change through anti-racist and diversity-oriented initiatives
~ Provide a critical Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) lens in the planning of resources and professional development opportunities within the association
~ Liaise with the Equity and Diversity Committee to give support, resources, and space to engage the membership and board members in infusing EDI  in our practice
~ Offer a critical lens on current and ongoing structures and practices within other OMEA portfolios
~ Assist in reviewing and revising the association bylaws in advance of the 2021 AGM
~ Commit to a director term of 2 years

Duties of Directors include:

~ The chosen applicant will become a director of the OMEA, and will be a part of the larger team of directors to guide the activities of the corporation, engage in initiatives, collaborate in committee work to support members and music education in Ontario.
~ OMEA Directors must attend five scheduled board meetings per year, our AGM, and submit reports electronically when requested.
~ OMEA Directors should monitor their assigned OMEA email address regularly and respond to any correspondence or board discussions/votes in a timely manner.
~ OMEA Directors shall author or solicit at least two submissions per year for publication in The Recorder.
~ OMEA Directors are strictly volunteers, and will receive no remuneration for their work on the board. Authorized expenses incurred as a direct result of work for the OMEA can be claimed as an expense via the OMEA Treasurer.
~ Applicants to this position need to be current OMEA members, or be willing to become a member within 10 days of their appointment to the board. The Director will commit to remaining a member in good standing for the duration of their term. The OMEA will work with the successful applicant to ensure barrier-free access to this position.
