Baptism Information Request
Thank you so much for contacting us about baptism for your child. If you could please fill out this contact information and Jennie Meirose, our Volunteer Coordinator of Baptisms, will reach out to you at the email(s) you provide. If you need to contact her, her email is jmeirose@stagneslouisville.org.

If there are two parents involved in the life of the child and in preparing for baptism, we encourage both to have all contact information included below, as this ongoing conversation is for all involved parents.

At St. Agnes, we baptize during designated weekend Masses throughout the year. Our weekend Masses are at 5 pm on Saturday and 9:30 and 11:30 am on Sunday. Once you are registered members of the parish, we can begin talking about scheduling the date and time for baptism. At least one parent needs to be Catholic in order to schedule baptism for a child.

Godparents
In terms of godparents, we encourage you to begin praying about this now, since you are asked to choose people who will help you raise your children in the faith - this is a weighty responsibility. Only one godparent is required, but if you choose two godparents, they must be a man and woman.

In general, the guidelines from canon law are that the person be:

  • At least sixteen years of age,
  • A practicing Catholic in good standing with his/her own parish
  • Fully initiated (i.e. has been baptized, confirmed, and received Eucharist)

There are some other elements outlined in canon law, but these are generally the three that people need to know. If you choose to have two godparents, one must be a male and one must be a female.
