Community Fits Soulful Stitches Workshop

Please fill out the form below to express your interest in participating. This workshop is entirely free of charge, made possible through the generous support of our community. Parents/Guardians can attend with youth but it is not required. 

Location: Downtown Oakland, address will be sent to you directly after we confirm your spot

Description:
The Soulful Stitches workshop offers a unique opportunity for youth ages 8-18 to learn the art of sewing while exploring their creativity. In this session, participants will engage in a hands-on project to create their very own tote bag. All necessary supplies will be provided, and participants will have the opportunity to take their completed item home. NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED! 

Food and snacks will be provided. Please let us know if you have any allergies 

Liability: The Liability statement below ensures participants agree to safe sewing practices during the Soulful Stitches workshop, acknowledging inherent risks and releasing Community Fits from liability for any injuries sustained. Parents grant permission for their minors to attend, while participants agree to follow safety guidelines and waive any claims against organizers for accidents.

Media Release: By agreeing to attend Soulful Stitches the parent and/or guardian acknowledges and consents to their minor's potential appearance in media.

Safety & Lability Waiver

While participating in the Soulful Stitches workshop, all participants agree to adhere to safe sewing practices to minimize the risk of injury. The organizers of the workshop prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants and provide guidance on proper sewing techniques and equipment usage.

Participants understand and acknowledge the following:

Safety Guidelines: Participants will follow all safety guidelines provided by the workshop organizers. This includes but is not limited to using sewing tools and equipment appropriately, handling sharp objects with care, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Supervision: Participants under the age of 18 will be supervised by workshop staff or volunteers at all times during the event.

Assumption of Risk: Participants understand that sewing involves inherent risks, including the risk of injury from sewing needles, scissors, and other sharp objects. By participating in the workshop, participants voluntarily assume all risks associated with sewing activities.

Parental Responsibility: Parents or guardians of minor participants are responsible for ensuring their child's compliance with safety guidelines and for providing adequate supervision as needed.

Medical Attention: In the event of an injury or medical emergency, workshop staff will provide immediate assistance and seek medical attention if necessary. Participants and parents/guardians authorize the workshop staff to administer first aid as needed.

6. Liability Waiver: Participants and parents/guardians acknowledge that Community Fits and its staff members are not liable for any injuries sustained by minors during the workshop or while using any equipment provided during the workshop.

7. Permission Slip: By signing up for the Soulful Stitches workshop, parents/guardians grant permission for their minor child to attend the workshop for its duration. This serves as a permission slip for the minor to participate in the workshop.

8. Media:By agreeing to attend Soulful Stitches the parent and/or guardian acknowledges and consents to their minor's potential appearance in media, including social media posts and/or website content, associated with the Soulful Stitches workshop organized by Community Fits. Furthermore, the media release may specify that participants and their guardians understand that while efforts will be made to ensure the respectful and appropriate use of media featuring minors, Community Fits cannot guarantee the actions of third parties who may share or distribute such media beyond its control.

Agreement: By signing up for the Soulful Stitches workshop, participants and parents/guardians agree to the safety terms outlined above.

Participants also agree to release the organizers, volunteers, and venue from any liability for injuries or accidents that may occur during the workshop. Participants further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the organizers, volunteers, and venue against any claims, damages, or expenses arising from their participation in the workshop.
