Pressing Forward: Student Publications That Championed Change at UMD

Join us on April 26 from 5 pm-7 pm at Hornbake Library for Pressing Forward: Student Publications That Championed Change at UMD.

This event will highlight student publications that helped advocate and document student advocacy efforts to create a better campus community. In collaboration with the Philip Merrill College of Journalism and University Archives, participants will be able to hear from former and current staff members of The Black Explosion Newspaper, La Voz Latina, and the Public Asian. Sharing their experience covering important movements on campus, our panelists from each publication will also talk about the intersection of journalism and activism.

Guests will also get to tour "Rising Up: 100 Years of Student Activism for Justice and Civil Rights at the University of Maryland,” and see historic issues of UMD school publications, and learn about the UMD Archives’ Student Newspaper Database.

Food and drinks will be provided.
