General Information About Volunteering at the Gallery
The Campbell River Art Gallery exhibits the contemporary art of senior and mid-career professional artists from across Canada in our Main Gallery, as well as presenting regional and emerging artists in our lobby satellite cases.

The Gallery offers workshops for adults and youth, school and community gallery tours (followed by an art activity), Super Saturday free art-making sessions, a fundraising Gallery Shop, and other special events and programs.

Volunteers are a vital part of the Gallery operations and there are many opportunities to get involved:

GALLERY SHOP In the Gallery Shop, volunteers generally work a 2- to 5-hour shift weekly. You must be comfortable working with the public, enjoy art, deal with sales, track visitors, register people for art classes and more. You would also have the opportunity to give informal tours of the current exhibition. It’s a fun, creative environment and great work experience.

SUPER SATURDAYS FACILITATION & PREPARATION For those who enjoy working with children or participating in community events, the Gallery often has volunteers assist with Super Saturdays - a family-friendly event usually held on Saturdays throughout the month from 12:30 to 3:30. If you’d like to work directly with the families and children, you would be working alongside our Outreach and Education Coordinator the day of the event. If you prefer being on the back-end of things, you would be welcome to help with preparing and distributing Super Saturday kits.

GALLERY DOCENT If you enjoy deep dives into art and meeting new people, the Gallery is in need of Gallery Docents to conduct formal tours of the Main Gallery and Satellite Gallery exhibitions. Volunteers will be specially trained by the Gallery Curator and will be expected to be present at the Gallery for drop-in tours at least once a week.

SPECIAL EVENTS (COMING SOON) For Special Events, volunteers help with poster distribution, set up and take down, serving food and beverages, and more.

Get involved! If you enjoy art, like working with people, want to gain diverse experience in a community organization, and are at least 15 years of age, contact the Gallery and apply to become a volunteer. All volunteers must participate in training and orientation as well as complete an RCMP criminal record check.

This application will ask for your contact information, volunteer motivations and interests, and availability.
