Hocus Pocus Ruckus - Online Waiver
Welcome to the Hocus Pocus Ruckus community! This is a formality before getting started!
About us
Hocus Pocus Ruckus is a space for LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized people and bodies. We are an open space for Japanese rope art and its contexts. In it, many different and individual people congregate for positive experiences. HPR is an open space based on collaboration, informed consent and respectful communication.

Be kind, respectful, and curious. Please read the following to know the basic rules of interaction in our space:
COVID-19 Protocol
  • Wearing an FFP2 mask is highly recommended, but optional. If you forgot your mask, we can provide you with one.
  • The rope-play area is constantly aired with HEPA-14 filters.
  • We provide hand disinfectant, please make ample use of it. Wash your hands regularly.
  • All appliances, surfaces, blankets, etc. will be disinfected on a regular basis and before and after every class.
  • The number of participants is limited. Contact us if you have been contaminated so we can let the other participants know.
Hocus Pocus Ruckus Rules
HPR provides a space for everyone. Any kind of harassment, disrespectful treatment, or non-consensual action will not be tolerated and will lead to an immediate exclusion from the event and from HPR, without compensation. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, disrespectful mentions of ethnic background, personal beliefs, appearance, sex, gender, sexual orientation, and personal live choices. It also summarizes intended threat, stalking, non-consensual visual or audio recording, continuous disruption of the event or single scenes of others, non-consensual body contact and other non-consensual sexual or non-sexual devotion. Rope stunts such as suspensions without a proven background are not permitted at Hocus Pocus Ruckus. We reserve the right to ask participants to stop any play which we deem dangerous or inappropriate. Each tying person is responsible for the person they tie.

We are abiding by the Anti-Abuse Policy. Click here to read about it.

  • Consent: Kinbaku can be very intimate and often includes a closeness between persons which is uncommon in daily life. It is therefore important to engage in a process of communication between persons tying with each other, which decreases the risk of miscommunication during the exercises. In other words, please talk to each other about what is ok and what is not ok for everyone involved. Hocus Pocus Ruckus instructors value consent above anything, and in a case where an exercise involves a limit for a participant, we are more than happy to offer alternatives and to support participants in finding what works for them.
  • Health: The wellbeing of each and every participant is important to us. We want to ensure that no participant feels pressured to follow through or exactly copy every exercise. Please inform us before the training or workshop about any situation that could lead to a health risk or injury. We have work-arounds for everything, and are happy to provide alternatives. During the events please make sure to take care of yourself, as you are the one who knows your body best. Hydration, meditation, stretching… whatever helps you stay healthy and happy, so that you can enjoy yourself and your interactions through ropes.
  • Environment: The tatamis are where the bodies belong, not the dirt from the streets. No shoes beyond the entrance area, please use the shelves outside for shoes and the ferret-proof storage upstairs for bigger bags and outside items. Tatamis also provide warmth and insulation. Dampness and stickiness contradicts that, so no drinks and food on the tatamis. Water bottles that can fully close are allowed. During the events, we ask for an appropriate noise level. This includes silencing phones. Please keep an appropriate noise level inside Hocus Pocus Ruckus as well as outside and keep the premises clean. We ask all the participants to wear one piece of clothing in top of their underwear. Comfortable clothing is preferred.

Thank you very much!
