Oxford Nightline Training Form
Nothing you write here will be taken into consideration during the selection process.

All the information you submit on this form will be confidential to your trainers and the training organisers and will only be used for training purposes. After one year we will remove any personally identifiable data that you give us. You reserve the right to ask us to modify or remove the data you provide at any point.

If you are accepted as a volunteer we will retain your contact details for the duration of time in which you volunteer with us.

In order to train with us, you need to be available for 3 consecutive weekends. For Hilary Term these dates are the 29th/30th of January, the 5th/6th and 12th/13th of February. You'll need to be available for all 3 Saturdays or all 3 Sundays.

You will also need to be available on the 19th or 20th of February to be inducted into the office, but this is a shorter commitment and you may attend on either day.

If you fill out the form now, we will respond to you closer to the start of our next training cycle in January.

If you have any pressing questions about training next term, please don't hesitate to send us an email!

The information collected in this form is used to ensure that we can get in touch quickly and organise training as efficiently as possible.

Are you available to complete at least two full terms as a volunteer following the completion of training? *
In order to be eligible to be trained as a listening volunteer by Oxford Nightline, it is expected that an individual will spend at least two full terms as a volunteer. Unfortunately, if a volunteer is unable to meet this commitment then they will be unlikely to be accepted for training. In most cases, this means your last opportunity to train is Michaelmas Term (October) of your graduation year.
Is English your first language? *
Note that this does not affect your chance to train in any way!

Do you have any unspent convictions? *
Please select “Yes” if you have any convictions that are not yet spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The term ‘convictions’ is used to refer to any sentences or disposals issued by a court. If all your convictions are spent, you can tick “No”. If you’re not sure if your convictions are unspent or spent, you can use a tool available at www.disclosurecalculator.org.uk and read guidance at hub.unlock.org.uk/roa. A conviction does not automatically prevent you from training - only those that would materially impact the work of a volunteer will lead to this. Our policy on disclosures of unspent convictions is available on our website. If you select "Yes", then we will send you an email asking you to provide more details.
