Advancing Linguistic Equity Through Program Leadership
February 7, 2022
New York City (Hybrid)
Proposals are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. All proposals must be submitted by Friday, November 5, 2021. We will respond to everyone who submits a proposal to either accept, reject, or ask for more information or revisions.
NAELPA is organized for the mutual communications, professional development of its members, and support for English Learner students (ELs) regarding the education and services for ELs.
The non-negotiables for NAELPA presentations are as follows:
-Combination of theoretical background and practical application: Integrate ideas related to the topic within face-to-face, virtual, or remote/paper-based learning
-The presentation is facilitated according to adult learning styles (limited amount of text on a slide, pacing, interactive, etc.) with engaging strategies(sense of humor, energetic, interactive) and can present without reading off of slides
-Integrate technology tools/strategies that could be used during remote instruction
-Content presented includes opportunities for further learning (recommended resources that allow for ongoing learning)
-The session lead will interject at 1 minute to keep the presentations on time during the sessions
Please note, the conference is Hybrid this year. If you select in-person presentation on your application, you will be presenting from New York City.
This year we are encouraging presentations within the following categories:
* LEA/SEA Collaborations
* Equity in bilingual/Dual Language Education
* Celebrating Home Language and Culture
* Dual Language Learners in Early Learning
* Seal of Biliteracy
