Soquel High School Intensive Course Application
Intensive English 1 is an advanced level course available to 9th graders who meet the prerequisites.  This course is recommended for students who want to work hard,  improve their academic skills, and prepare for Honors and Advanced Placement courses.

An intensive class is a  big commitment, and cannot be dropped from your schedule once enrolled.  It demands daily study time outside of class, and may require completion of assignments and/or reading over the summer, winter, and spring breaks.   If you are interested in enrolling in an Intensive course, please complete this application and return it to your new Soquel Counselor.  Students who do not complete the application will not be accepted into the course(s).  Completion of the application does not guarantee a spot in Intensive and Honors classes.

Important Considerations for Intensive and Honors courses:
- Daily homework, including weekends and holidays
- Completion of summer, winter, and spring assignment
- Weekly essays, tests, and quizzes
- Daily attendance is crucial. Consider this carefully if you are frequently absent or tardy or you participate in extracurricular activities that regularly take you out of class.
- Schedule changes out of an Intensive or Honors class may only happen at the semester
