Thank you so much for taking the time to file a dispute. If you feel a studio listed on the plus-size friendly studios list is not in line with the below criteria, use this form to let me know! If I receive 2 or more of these in a 3 month period the studio may be removed from the list.
Most of the time I will reach out to the studio to discuss the concerns raised and if they are not receptive to fixing the problems (and follow through) or I get additional reports they will be removed. I do also encourage students to talk to their studio owners / instructors if you feel there is a problem (a lot of the time they simply don't know!) so that hopefully they can learn from you, the student, and work toward fixing the problem.
To be considered plus-size friendly they must meet the following criteria:
- No individual weight limits for standard (non-specialty apparatus) classes
- No engaging in body shaming or equating body size to health
- No promoting weight loss
- The studio must have flexible leveling requirements and / or other pathways to advancement for standard lower-level classes that are not disproportionately biased against larger bodies
Once the information is submitted here it can take up to a month for the list to be adjusted.
