The SLHS PTSA Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2023-2024 SLHS PTSA Executive Board.

If you, or someone you know, is interested in serving in any of the OFFICER or STANDING COMMITTEE positions below, please complete this form no later than Tuesday, February 21, 2023 (you may "nominate"/volunteer yourself).  

All nominees must be PTSA members in good standing. Non-members may join the PTSA.

Description of OFFICER and STANDING COMMITTEE Positions
OFFICERS:
The Nominating Committee is only responsible for filling the OFFICER positions. A nomination does not guarantee the position as an OFFICER. Each candidate will be carefully considered for the OFFICE he/she is nominated for.

PRESIDENT: Presides over all PTSA meetings. Coordinates work of Officers and Committees. Is a
member of all committees except nominating and audit committees. Ensures all SLHS PTSA
objectives are followed. Attends monthly local, council, VIPS and President meetings.

1st VP PROGRAMS: Responsible for PTSA sponsored programs. Presides over meetings in the absence of the President.  Other duties as assigned by the President.

2nd VP MEMBERSHIP: Responsible for PTSA membership drives and membership events. Performs other duties as assigned by the President.

3rd VP WAYS AND MEANS: Responsible for PTSA community partnerships, parent donations, and spirit nights. Performs other duties assigned by the President.

4th VP VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools): Responsible for volunteer coordination. Manages requests for volunteers and maintains database of names/hours as appropriate. Responsible for volunteer recognition.  Performs other duties assigned by the President.

TREASURER: Responsible for all funds of the association. Maintains and keeps accurate books
and records. Presents financial reports, both written and oral, at all meetings. Performs other duties assigned by the Association.

SECRETARY: Responsible for recording minutes of the association and keeping accurate records
of all official work of the association. Chairs Bylaws Committee. Performs other duties assigned
by the Association.



STANDING COMMITTEES:
These positions will be appointed by the incoming President and Board. All persons interested in these committee positions will be passed on for consideration.  

ADVOCACY - Disseminates legislative information from TX PTA
ARTS IN EDUCATION/ REFLECTIONS - Coordinates the Reflections Art Program (in the Fall) on our campus 
CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION - Coordinates with administration on projects to enhance SLHS
COMMUNICATIONS -  Updates the website, social media accounts and the SLHS PTSA newsletter 
COUNCIL DELEGATE -  Attends monthly Katy Council of PTAs evening meetings 
HOLIDAY/PATIO HOME TOUR - Coordinates the home tour, participants, ticket sales, sponsorship
SCHOLARSHIPS - Coordinates our Senior and Faculty Scholarship program
SISTER SCHOOL - Plans events for our sister school
TEACHER HOSPITALITY - Plans lunches, treats for teachers and staff
SPIRIT WEAR - Designs spirit wear; organizes ordering; coordinates sales and distribution of spirit wear
WORKROOM  -  Coordinates, schedules, and trains volunteers for the workrooms
