DC Ocean Week Community Event: Visit the Alice Ferguson Foundation living shoreline & kayak among the Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay!

Event is Thursday, June 6, 2019 and is limited to the first 20 registrants!

SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES:
10:30 AM  (optional) carpool pickup from Branch Avenue Metro Station (end of green line)
11:30 AM  arrival at Alice Ferguson Foundation Hard Bargain Farm
11:45 AM  orientation and introductions
12:00 PM  tour of living shoreline
12:45 PM  lunch - bring your own picnic lunch
1:30 PM  depart for Mallows Bay Park
2:00 PM  arrival at Mallows Bay Park
2:15 PM  orientation & safety briefing
2:30 PM  guided kayak tour of the Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay
4:30 PM  finish tour, load kayaks, debrief
5:00 PM  depart

Tandem kayaks, paddles, life vests, and water will be provided to all registered participants. Please bring your own picnic-style lunch (there will be no microwaves). Please check the weather and dress appropriately. We recommend quick-dry clothing, waterproof close-toed shoes, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, and anything else you need to be comfortable outside in the elements for several hours. Tours are rain or shine, but we will cancel parts or all of the day if severe weather looms.

Additional logistical information will be sent out to registrants on May 31.

Large passenger vans are available to transport participants from the Branch Avenue Metro Station (end of green line on DC Metro). Would you like to be part of this carpool?
