American Rescue Plan (ARP) Elementary And Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) WPCSD Community Survey- 2022-2023 School Year
The Whitney Point School District is funded by some local tax dollars but is largely funded by State and Federal money that is aimed at providing equitable educational experiences for children regardless of the school district where they reside. Due to the hardships caused by the pandemic the federal government is designating special and temporary additional funds for school districts to pay for expenses caused by special measures in place during the pandemic and to make sure that all districts can safely open schools for in-person instruction, keep them open, and address the disruptions to teaching and learning resulting from the pandemic.
This funding is temporary and needs to be used to enact appropriate measures to help schools to invest in mitigation strategies consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Operational Strategy for K-12 Schools to the greatest extent practicable; and to address the many impacts of COVID-19 on students by investing to provide the best educational opportunities for students and by implementing evidence based strategies to meet students’ social, emotional, mental health, and academic needs.
These funds are given to all school districts for these purposes, it is important to use these temporary dollars wisely to have the greatest impact on WPCSD student success.
