Hello, Gonzales Lobos!
I will be offering a Storytelling After School Club at the Library on Wednesdays, from 3:15 to 4:00pm. Students will be given an opportunity to write their own stories, practice public speaking, make puppets, props, and ultimately develop their storytelling skills. Storytelling is now considered a lost art, and by developing their skills to share stories, students will be empowered to make connections with their audiences. Great way to build community.
I am hoping to get a good sized group of students to participate. The library lends itself perfectly to share stories as I have a loud speaker system with microphone, and lots of materials to create stories. Students will also be exploring storytelling using felt figures/boards, and marionettes/puppets. Developing these skills will help them speak confidently and comfortably in front of their peers, and later in larger audiences.
Please sign-up your child if you think this would be an interest for them. I will communicate with parents when the club is canceled for unforeseeable circumstances. Students can come directly to the library after school, and will be released promptly at 4:00pm. Please ensure pick-up arrangements are established beforehand. Please email me with any questions:
