Hi! We are Aleksandra and Doreen, master students at the Berlin University of the Arts. Together we are researching how discrimination and microaggressions affect the lives of those affected and what helps one with personal empowerment. For our final thesis, we are collecting experiences and stories of everyday discrimination. If you have had such an experience, we would be happy if you share your story with us.

TRIGGER WARNING: We are asking about personal experiences, this might bring up hurtful memories for some people.

We would like to use the stories to create an app as an empowerment tool. For more information, feel free to email us: info.rekonstrukt@gmail.com

Because of which "external attributions" were you discriminated against?
In which area of life have you been discriminated against in the last five years?
Which experience of being discriminated against on the basis of external attributions do you remember most?
Please tell us a little about this experience.
What is in the foreground for you in this experience: you as the person who experienced it, the place in the context of the experience or the feeling experienced?
How did this experience feel for you?
What feelings did this evoke in you?
What consequences did this experience have for you personally?
physically, psychologically, ...
How did the people around you react?
What reaction would you have liked from outside third parties? What would have helped you?
If no one else was there: What would you wish from others if someone had observed it?
Do you share this experience with other people and why?
Is it only the people who are close to you personally or do you share the experience with more people?
How do you share the experience with other people?
When you tell others about your experience, what do you want others to do?
How should others react or what should they do or not do?
What would help you (make it easier) to share it in public with people who are not close to you?
What empowerment formats would be good?
Does listening to others with similar experiences help you and why?
When you give a non-verbal expression to the experience you described earlier, what images or metaphors come to mind?
Could this perhaps reinforce the expression of what was said?
Would it be helpful to create a place where you can patiently listen to others tell about their experiences of discrimination? Why?
It can be a virtual or real place.
What does this place need?
If there was a digital place where you could share your experiences, what features would be important to you?
In your view, can an app be solidarity-based, and if so, what should this look like?
Thank you very much for taking the time for this survey. We would like to conduct more qualitative interviews with individuals and ask if we can write to you personally?
If so, please write your email address below.
Thank you for taking part in our survey. Have a nice day :D
