Welcome to Design Round Two!! For this round, please give us your feedback on
how you want to use the new space created by RE:BEACH. Please complete one form to provide feedback to all three teams. Key images of the project concepts are included here, but refer back to
rebeach.org if you want to dive deeper into the designs and objectives.
All feedback is shared with the teams, in real time!
Please save the date: the third Public Workshop will be held on December 13. Find out more information, join the mailing list, and register at rebeach.org.
Pilot Project Location: The end goal of the Design Competition is to select the pilot project concept to move forward to final engineering and permitting. That next step of final engineering design includes additional analysis, such as numerical modeling, to help determine the location that provides the most benefits to the broader Oceanside coastline. This step also includes assessing the specifics of permitting, funding potential, and scalability of the selected concept. The teams may have indicated a conceptual location to help ground their concepts in Oceanside. However, these locations are not indicative of where the pilot will ultimately occur. For the current phase of the project, we are asking for public feedback and input to help create the three best design concepts possible, regardless of location.
Design Team Concept Attributes: Each Team was asked to provide a description of how their design would achieve established competition criteria to assist the public in evaluation and comparison of the proposed designs. The questions the teams were asked to answer were as follows:
What is the anticipated increased sandy beach width and length compared to current conditions?
Are there any changes in current land use types including enhancement and/or alteration of environmental resources (terrestrial and marine) compared to current conditions?
What is the anticipated magnitude of costs for construction, operation, and maintenance over the expected lifetime of the project?
What is the expected lifetime of the project?
What is the expected enhancement of beach access and recreation (active and passive) based on the current design?
What are the anticipated benefits to adjacent shorelines provided by your project?
NOTE: The evaluations made by each Design Team have not been fully analyzed by the City, Jury, or Project Team. Since each Design Team is still working at a conceptual level, details related to each expected criteria will be refined as the designs are further developed and analyzed and as such are subject to change.
