CGA Research Group Application
The Center for Geospatial Analysis (CGA) often has opportunities, both internal and external to William & Mary, available for students. In the CGA we feel strongly about supporting student opportunities for hands-on, client based, real world projects. This allows us to support W&M and VIMS researchers as well as local, state, national and international opportunities.

The CGA Research Group is offered as a 1 credit course (GIS 480). Students must be able to work on their project approximately 5 hours per week and meet with CGA advisors and, if applicable, research teammates at least 1 hour each week. The 1 credit course can be taken up to three times.

Students should place GIS 480 into their registration carts and instructor permission will be granted by the approprate faculty member during the registration process.  Professor S. White should be the default section to select unless you have discussed and agreed upon by another professor.

Current research opportunities include:
  • Collecting and Generating GIS data for William and Mary Business and Administrative Needs
  • Data processing for academic social science research
  • Faculty based humanities project support
  • Data  cleaning and organization for local government (includes several local counties and department needs)
  • Community based historical research
Once you have completed the form, the CGA will be in contact about the specific opportunities best suited for your experience and interests, when possible.
