In the Fall of 2023, Georgetown University’s Global Cities Initiative will host an Urban Thinkers Campus (UTC) under the auspices of the UN Habitat’s World Urban Campaign. The theme of this extended, virtual, multi-panel global forum will be “International Practices of Place Management Through Multisectoral Partnerships.”
We invite individuals and organizations to join us in discourse and dialogue to explore best practices in place management in cities around the world. The term “place management” embodies the professional practice of managing multi-stakeholder resources to sustain an urban place and advance the urban district performance. This Urban Thinkers Campus is an opportunity to share knowledge, ideas and perspectives of the practices of place-based management.
The opening session is scheduled for Friday, September 8, 2023 and will be followed by a series of regional workshops culminating in a December 8th closing session. Georgetown will produce a research publication which includes case studies and a summary of the Urban Thinkers Campus dialogue. We invite thought leaders and planning practitioners from all cities and regions to join us in this dialogue. Are you a practitioner or thought leader who can contribute to this dialogue? Do you represent a potential case study urban management district? We welcome your participation and engagement!
