Zero Waste Commitment / Campus Initiatives
We want the Chancellor to sign the Zero Waste Commitment and set in place specific goals and dates for reducing waste on campus and becoming net zero waste in the near future. This would mean that all of UT's waste would go to either recycling or compost, and nothing would go to the landfill. SPEAK is wanting to add pressure to those in power at UT to implement more eco-friendly policies and restrictions that will impact the amount of waste produced on campus.

We are hoping to present the results of this survey to Chancellor Plowman during her office hours this month.

Currently, each UT Office is able to make their own purchasing with no limits or suggestions to consider eco-friendly/recyclable/compostable products. This impacts UT as a whole to achieve higher waste diversion rates.

Do you think all UT offices should be required to only purchase paper that is a certain % recycled/post consumer? *
Do you think all offices within UT should be limited in ability to purchase Styrofoam? *
Do you have any other comments? (not required)
