Decision Point 2: What's Holding You Back?
When a teen misses a session of High School Faith Formation (Confirmation), the Concord Carlisle Catholic Collaborative expects that teen to view the video(s) missed and complete this simple online form.

The videos for this session are found Dynamic Catholic's website, or you may download the app (for free), which has all the videos.

Session 2 is titled "What's Holding You Back". Watching all the videos will take about 22 minutes, and answering the questions may take 15 minutes. Keep in mind that the quality of your response will help Tony and his Faith Formation Leaders determine if you actually viewed the videos (which we think are quite good)!

Overview - Confirmation Preparation
Confirmation IS NOT a type of graduation. While an important point in your journey of faith, it is not an end, and may be for some, the beginning.

Decision Point is meant to inform you about life and faith, to inform your journey of faith, in particular your preparation to receive God's grace in the sacrament of Confirmation.
What Are You Doing and The Quest for Happiness
What are some things you desire that are good for you?
*
What is something you thought would make you happy, but in fact left you feeling empty, unhappy, miserable, used, deceived, or worse?
*
Describe a time when you had the wisdom and courage to follow your conscience, and you were glad you did.

Stinking Thinking
How is "Stinking Thinking" holding you back from becoming the person God created you to be?
Individualism, hedonism, minimalism, relativism: which of these are the biggest temptations for you at this time in your life?
Describe a time when you embraced one of these broken philosophies. What was the outcome? How did you feel afterward? Did you become a-better-version-of-yourself?
Hungry for the Truth
Describe a time when you were not "hungry for truth", when you didn't want to know the truth. Why were you avoiding it?
Think about a disturbing story you have seen in the news recently. What happened? Which of the ten commandments were broken?
When we examine the Ten Commandments, the obvious ways of violating them are apparent, but what are some of the more subtle ways we can break them?
Which of the ten commandments do you think are most commonly broken in our society today? (see list on page 41 in the participant guide)
This is Personal
What did the story about the rattlesnake make you think?
What does the rattlesnake represent for you? Who or what is holding you back? What is it that, sooner or later, is going to turn on you and strike you down? How would your life be better if you could walk away from that rattlesnake?
If you had more courage, what good thing would you do?
Decision Point
If God called you to a great mission like he did Gideon, do you think you would say yes? Why? Why not?
Like the ancient Israelites, we have all: gone looking for happiness in the wrong places, fallen into stinking thinking, turned our backs on the truth, and been too proud to admit our wrongdoing. When was the last time you acted like the ancient Israelites?
What does our culture worship?
What "altar of baal" do you need to tear down in your heart?
What (disordered) attachments in life are holding you back from being the person God created you to be?
Closing Prayer
In the participant workbook, there is a version of Psalm 62 on page 54. Read this slowly and prayerfully, and then use your own words to respond to God.
